CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY
Conservative dentistry is a branch of dentistry that deals mainly with the recovery of dental morphology using fillings, reconstructions or inlays.
The most common causes of loss of tooth structure are tooth decay and dental trauma.
Dental caries is a degenerative disease of hard tooth tissues, that is the enamel and dentine. It is caused by infection; the infection starts on the tooth surface and then works its way inward until it reaches the pulp, causing pain and inflammation.
MICROSCOPIC ENDODONTICS
Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the removal of the dental pulp and the sealing of root canals with biocompatible material.
Endodontic treatment, also called root canal, removes the degenerated pulp (vital part of the tooth) to prevent the infection from spreading, leading to tooth loss.
The pulp may degenerate because of a deep caries, a mechanical trauma or periodontal infection.
